Implant questions/advice. I'm going through hell.

I'm 24 and had the implant inserted April 2015 so it's been almost 2 years with it. In the beginning I was fine had no real symptoms and was glad I had it. Now it just feels like I'm going through hell.
I've gained about 15-20 pounds on it and can't seem to get them off, I've tried diets, I go to the gym about 3 times a week (busy schedule). Nothing has worked and I always feel bloated. Along with the weight gain I now have acne and also a lot of back ache. Another thing that came after getting it was pain during intercourse. It started a couple of months ago, but it's a sharp pain on my left side and it doesn't go away no matter what position were in. My sex drive is almost completely gone and the few times I do feel in the mood the fear of the pain or the pain itself just ruin it for me.

Before the implant I was on the shot deposit and didn't feel any of these symptoms. I've been told the depo and implant use the same hormones so I'm puzzled as to why I feel this way with one and not the other. I'm thinking of getting it removed because I feel like I just can't handle it anymore.
Anyone else feel any of this while on the implant?

Hello Anonymous,

Welcome to EmpowHER. Thank you for reaching out to our community for help.

i do not have any personal experience with an IUD, but I would suspect many of our members have and will share with you.

Have you spoken to your gynecologist about this?

Regards,
Maryann
