Irregular bleeding

Hi, I am going through an irregular menstrual cycle now (abnormal to me).

I started having cramps since mid cycle and continued through the remainder of the month. Sometimes very intense and at moments mild, but they went away in the mornings.

My period was two days "late" but I am irregular so I did not think much about it. I had intercourse on a Friday (day 1) and started bleeding within two hours of that and that night it went away and only had dark brown discharge. On Saturday, the discharge went away. On Sunday I was bad again and immediately after sex I started spotting but it stopped again and there was the brownish discharge . On Monday it was all gone, no spotting nor discharge of any kind. Tuesday night I had sex again and I started bleeding again, but this time it went from spotting to mild to extreme and the cramps that came with it were bad.

I called my gyno and the only appt available was 3 weeks out, but I took it. I called the 24 hr nurse line and they did not do much. I took a pregnancy test but it came back negative. A whole week went by and on Monday I was still bleeding so I called the nurse line and the lady was rude and useless. Told me to seek immediate medical attention after 2 weeks of bleeding (is that right? Seems like a long time to be told this by a RN). I had another horrible cramp, sweating, it was so bad I told my husband to keep the volume down.

Tuesday still bleeding but less fluid. Wednesday and I was spotting and the cramps are back.

I still need to wait almost two weeks for my appt and I am really concerned. Even though the pregnancy test came back negative, I am afraid I had a miscarriage and I do not know.

Should I wait until my appt or seek attention now? I feel this is something that must be addressed by a gyno or can a family doctor do anything for me?

I have had two miscarriages so this is not a good thing.

Please help.

DaisyN,

Thank you for your response. I don't feel any worst, they just come and go and almost two weeks have gone by and I feel they should have gone away.

I called my gynecologist and left him a message stating what I believe might have happened and asking what he suggests I do since he has no appts. I will call them back until I get an answer. In the meantime, I will look for a clinic or Urgent care to be ready to get checked ASAP.

Hi YoyoR,

Welcome to EmpowHER, If you are having all these symptoms and they keep getting worst. You need to be seen by a doctor. It does not matter if it's a Gynecologist or a primary doctor. Some primary care physicians provide routine gynecological care or you should go to the ER. Hope this was helpful?

Best,

Daisy
