Is it harmful to pick skin when it is peeling after a sunburn?

Hello, my boyfriend is 20 years old and got severely sunburnt. He has been picking his skin, since it is peeling, and I was wondering if this is harmful or not. He has been putting aloe vera on and recently got a cream prescribed to him for his legs, which are the worst (first-degree burn) and haven't started peeling yet.

I took the Made from Earth Pure Aloe Face Treatment on a recent vacation to Barbados. I usually burn on my face, shoulders and arms. My skin is quite painful and I peel for two weeks after I get home, which is never a pretty sight.

This time, I applied the Pure Aloe Skin Treatment every evening after getting back to my hotel room. The first thing you notice is how immediately soothing it is. Also, my skin recovered more quickly the next day. I was done peeling within only a couple days after getting home, and had a great tan as well. I'm never going on vacation without this made from earth aloe again.

The dead surface skin will peel off by itself. Be very careful picking at it, as healthy new skin could be damaged and leave him open to infection.

So sorry he got that badly burned!

Here's some information from our empowHer Encyclopedia about Sunburn that I hope you will find helpful.
