I am trying to get pregnant so I have been off the pill for a couple of months now and I'm in the middle of my second cycle. From around day 14 of both cycles I have felt pain around my left ovay for a few days. Is this normal to feel pain after ovulation? Is it a sign that I have ovualted or could it be a symptom of something else? Thanks, Karen

Karen, you're perfectly normal. Some women have mid-cycle pain when they ovulate, also called "mittelschmerz." That's a German word that means "middle pain," according to the Mayo Clinic.

I used to get this too. It is a sign that you are ovulating -- which may help since you are trying to conceive!

Here's the Mayo answer on this:

Some women only feel this occasionally. About 20% of women feel it every month. So while it's common, the majority of women don't feel it.

And here's a little bit more information:

So unless your pain is debilitating, there's no reason to worry. And good luck!
