Q:

Is it "normal" to have almost positive OPKs all month (and get an actual positive) and then practically not see the test line at all the next month?

The only change that I made between the two months is that I started taking B6 vitamins this month (short, 9 day luteal phase). I am two days past last month's positive OPK so i'm still waiting for that positive this month. Thanks for any info.

Hi again Anonymous,

Thanks for the additional information. I would certainly go see your doctor. It is odd to have a constant positive for ovulation. When you ovulate, you usually have a white discharge that is also visible. Are you having this constantly?

Please keep us posted on what your doctor says.

They weren't positives so my question isn't concerning my last cycle. What I am wondering about is the fact that LH was detected more last cycle than this cycle and if that is typical - varying levels of LH from cycle to cycle.

Hi Anonymous,

Thank you for your question and welcome to Empowher. It is not normal to ovulate the whole month. Unusally, ovulation occurs between 12-16 days after you START your period. This, of course, varies as all women are different. Are you trying different ovulation tests? These are all coming back positive? That seems odd. Have you seen your doctor?

Good luck,

Missie

Hi, Missie,

Thank you for your response. I think my question may have been cut off. To answer your question, yes, I'm using the same brand. Last cycle, the test lines were very visible starting around CD 10. It was my first time using them and thought that some of them may have been positive, but finally, on CD 26, the test line was definitely darker than the control. I got AF 10 days after the positive OPK. So, I figured, short luteal phase. I started taking B6 this cycle and all my OPKs' test lines have been non-existent! I'm a bit alarmed about my LH since none seems to be detected, compared to last cycle's results. Do you know if this is typical? I should note that although I'm using the same OPK brand, the batch numbers are different. They were ordered at different times. I am now on CD 29 and still no positive OPK although I did have some light bleeding for about 3 days around CD 22 - 24. I also started tracking BBT this cycle and no post O temp shift has taken place. Thanks again for your prompt response and any additional insight.
