is it normal for a pregnancy test to be negative 5 days before your period? could it still be positive if you test the day before your period?

Hi Anon

Thank you so much for your question!

Yes, it's total normal. Pregnancy tests look for the "pregnancy hormone", otherwise known as hCG, and with some women, it takes longer for this hormone to increase to the point that it can be detected via a pregnancy test. Some pregnancy tests can give a reliable answer 5 days before your period is due, others are better closer to the time.

And since hCG levels are different in women, some women produce strong levels early - some need another week or two.

With regard to the second part of your question, it was cut off in the title - can you let us know what that question was?

Good luck to you - I hope you get the result you want!
