is it possible to contract herpes from an infected person through underwear

Hi,
Last night I was making out for the first time with someone that I have been on a few dates with. We were in our underwear and dry humping a bit. He stopped and told me that if I wanted to have sex he wanted me to know that he had herpes and was taking a medication for it. We did not have sex and stopped making out at this point. I did not come into direct skin to skin contact with his genitals at any point. I am wondering if I should be concerned and if it is likely that I have come in contact with/contracted the herpes virus from dry humping while both of us were wearing underwear. I did not notice any visible legions and both of our underwear was full coverage.

Hi Anon,

Welcome to EmpowHER. Herpes is mostly passed on by having oral, vaginal or anal sex. Herpes can be contagious even when symptoms are not visible. If there was no contact, then your chances are less.
