Thank you for your question and for finding EmpowHER. Tubal ligation or similar procedures of "having your tubes tied" generally speaking are permanent. The following information is from a pamphlet distributed by the American College of Gynecologists and Obstetricians: "If you choose to have a sterilization procedure and you change your mind after the operation, attempts to reverse it may not work. After tubal sterilization is reversed, many women are still not able to get pregnant. Also, the risk of problems such as ectopic pregnancy is increased. Some women who have been sterilized choose to undergo in vitro fertilization instead of having the procedure reversed."
