Is it safe to have botox after heart surgery? One of my friends have frequent migraines almost daily as well and was wondering to take botox treatment for migraine but he hasn’t discussed about the surgery which he had undergone with the surgeon yet. So I would like to know whether is it safe to have botox injection for such cases. Does anyone have any idea on this?

Hi Larry001

Thanks for your post!

Generally speaking, Botox is considered safe after heart surgery. Your friend will need to talk to his doctor about his particular condition.

Some patients actually have Botox injected into the fat around the heart after heart surgery, as a way to improve heart rhythm.

So Botox for migraines is likely safe. However, each person is different so your friend needs to let his doctor know about his surgery.
