I am seven weeks post ablation for afib. My resting heartrate was 50 - 60 before the procedure. It is now ranging from 78 to 84. This is while still taking beta blocker.

I had an ablation 12 months ago. My resting heart rate is still elevated at around 87-90. it used to be 60-65. Thank-you to 'anonymous ' who said his took 4 years to reduce.i hate the thought of living with these PVCs and palpitations for the rest of my life, or...the side effects I get from Beta-blockers. You made my evening-hope!

Thanks for the reply. Now I'm 6 weeks post ablation. My resting heart rate (measured in the morning before got up) was about 72. (Pre ablation was about 55-60). Sitting heart rate (sitting and doing nothing) was about 85. If your rhr has the same definition, then we have very similar situation. I'm glad to hear you are doing well under this condition.

I originally submitted my question regarding a change in rhr in 2010. It is now nearly 2 years post ablation. My rhr never returned to pre ablation level. It is now 69-72 bpm typically. I run and am very active so I would expect it to be lower. All in all, I believe the ablation was successful. I have intermittent episodes of frequent premature beats. But nothing similar to pre ablation. The recovery was slow and gradual so try not to expect great strides very quickly. Hope you see improvement soon!

I am 5 days after the ablation for AFib Paroxysmal. My resting heart rate was 55-60. Now I'm 100-110. My blood pressure was 80/120. Now it's 100/145. I'm scared. Any one experience this could give me some comfort? Thanks in advance.

I had my ablation done last October. I had no episodes till last Monday, which I had 155-160 BPM for 2 hours, that is when I became aware of having heart race.
August 22, 2011 - 9:11pmI will have to wear a monitor again to investigate.
Since the ablation I have always had RHR of about 85-90. When excercising my heart can only go up to about 150's. Only once I saw about 170. This concerns me. Has anyone else had RHR of 80's to 90's after ablation? Will is stay with you for ever? The last time I saw my EP was about 6 months ago, (5 months post op). I was told to go for a follow up a year post op. The ablation was done for flutter and A-Fib and they were both fixed succesfully till 10 months post op as mentioned above.

It's been 2 weeks since my cryoballoon ablation and my RHR went from 56 bpm to 70 bpm. I believe this is normal.

I had an ablation a week ago. My resting heart rate before ablation was 60-65 and now it's 85-95 all day long. I mentioned this to the doctor in an email, but he didn't say anything about it. I am a little concerned about this and hope it slowly drops back down over time.
