Well me and my husband had intercourse, the day my period ended which was
Dec 29, and also on Dec 31st, Jan 2nd, and Jan 4th, I spotted on Jan 7th, and had pinkish light brown discharge that lasted 3 days. For 4 weeks now my breast have been sore, and tender, I have headaches, lower back pain. I also bled on Jan 29, which i thought was a period but it only lasted for 3 days. Now again i am 2 days late for my period again and breast still hurt feel full, and i have flutters in my stomache, been very sick like i want to vomit today when i would normally have my period i have white milky discharge with alil mucus to.

I already have 3 young children so if i am pregnant it would be a surprise to me because i am not trying for another as this time. But, I did take serveral HPT's which all said neg so what can be going on. Even though with my last child Pregnancy test came back neg until I was a month in a half with her so can't always trust HPT any advice though what this could mean or be??????? Could all this be early signs of pregnancy or something else????

Elisabeth,
Because your pregnancy tests came back negative for a month and a half with your last child, I think there's still a chance that that may be what's causing these symptoms. Home pregnancy tests test for the presence of HCG, the pregnancy hormone, in your urine, and it may be that when you tested before, there simply wasn't enough HCG there for the test to detect.

If you are not pregnant, I am wondering if you have something hormonal going on. Have you started or stopped any medications? Have you changed anything major in your life this year? And how old are you?

Tender breasts, nausea and a late period (if indeed this one is late) can be signs of pregnancy or of PMS. Sometimes when our hormones get a little out of whack, we have different PMS symptoms than normal (though not usually nausea). Are you needing to urinate more? Are you feeling bloated or extra fatigued?

It sounds like you did have a period on January 29th, even if it was only 3 days. Sometimes, for no "apparent" reason, our cycles can be shorter, longer, heavier, lighter, different color of discharge (pink, red, brown), cramps/no cramps, etc.

Especially since January 29th was around the time of your expected period (your previous period ended December 29th), the most logical explanation is that this WAS your period.

I am curious if you and your husband are having unprotected sex? If you are using protection (birth control pills, condoms, etc), then the likelihood of pregnancy is slight. If you are not using protection, I am curious why you say "pregnancy would be a surprise", as the likelihood of pregnancy would be significantly increased.

Have you had unprotected sex after the 3 days of bleeding on January 29th?

Another thought: let's say that January 29th was not a period (which it sounds like it was), but bleeding for 3 days that seemed like a period is not a sign of a viable pregnancy. Signs of pregnancy include the absence of bleeding; not shorter or different bleeding. Fluttering in your stomach and other "signs" of pregnancy can be misleading, too, as many women are hopeful of a pregnancy and know in their hearts that they are feeling this sensation...but fluttering that you can feel (as you know from your previous 3 pregnancies) does not actually occur into much further into the pregnancy.

Are you tracking your periods? If so, how long are your cycles typically? You may not be expecting your next period for a week or two, and any unprotected sex you have had after January 29th would not show up on a HPT as positive. You mentioned that you have 3 young children, but I am wondering if you are trying to become pregnant?

Does this information help?

HONESTLY WASN'T TRYING TO HAVE ANOTHER CHILD RIGHT NOW, BUT, WE DID HAVE UNPROTECTED SEX MY PERIOD WAS DUE YESTERDAY BUT DID NOT COME. SO I HAVE NO IDEA WHAT IS GOING ON. NORMALLY MY PERIODS LAST 7 TO 8 DAYS AND THEY ARE VERY HEAVY SO THAT PERIOD THAT LASTED 3 DAYS WAS NOT NORMAL FOR ME. I DON'T USE NO FORM OF BIRTH CONTROL EXCEPT CONDOMS WHICH WE HAVE NOT USED DURING THIS TIME AT ALL. I WISH I KNEW WHERE MY PERIOD IS AND WHY I AM HAVING ALL THESE PREGNANCY SYMPTOMS I HAVE BEEN THROUGH THIS 3 TIMES ALREADY SO I DO KNOW HOW IT FEELS, BUT SOMETIMES OTHER THINGS CAN CAUSE PREGNANCY SYMPTOMS BUT I JUST DON'T KNOW WHAT? IF I WAS PREGNANT I WOULD BE 5 WEEKS I HAVN'T TESTED ANYMORE FOR 2 WEEKS SO IF MY PERIOD DOSEN'T SHOW UP WITH IN A WEEK I AM GONNA TEST ONE MORE TIME AND THEN IF THE RESULTS ARE STILL NEG I'M GONNA MAKE A DOCTORS APPT.
WHAT DOES ALL THIS SOUND LIKE TO YOU THOUGH MY BREAST HAV BEEN HURTING VERY TENDER AND FEEL FULL WHEN I DRINK CERTAIN THINGS OR EAT THEY HAVE THE BUMPS WITH CREAM IN THEM LIKE WHEN YOU BREASTFEED 3 WEEKS AGO I HAD ALIL DISCHARGE COMING OUT MY YOUNGEST CHILD IS 13 MONTHS I STOPPED BREASTFEEDING HER 7 MONTHS AGO SO I AM LOST ON WHAT IS GOING ON .
I AM FINE EITHER WAY I HAVE 3 BEAUTIFUL CHILDREN.
AND THANKS YOU FOR ANSWERING ME BACK I'M GONNA TAKE ONE MORE TEST TOMORROW BUT IN THE MEAN TIME WHAT DO YOU THINK COULD BE THE PROBLEM ??
