Hi,
I know that can be frightening to be diagnosed with an ovarian cyst, but please know they are very common and are usually benign (non-cancerous).
Your doctor will tell you what the "next steps" are, as it depends not only on the size of the cyst, but also on the location and any other conditions you may have, as well as your individual and family health history.
You can read more about ovarian cysts: EmpowHER: ovarian cysts. One common approach is called "wait and see", if your doctor does not think you require treatment at this time (some cysts go away on their own, or after taking hormonal contraceptives), then this approach makes sense to see if any medical intervention is necessary. Many times, no treatment is necessary.
Please let us know what your doctor suggests for your treatment options, and we can further discuss what these entail, what you can expect, and provide more information and resources. Take good notes when your doctor provides information (ask him/her to spell something if you're not understanding terms, as they can speak fast sometimes!). Take care, and we look forward to hearing from you again!
