I have a purplish color and I asked my OBGYN and she said it was normal. She told be it could be caused by hormone levels. No need to worry.

Don't worry - masterbating, or self-pleasuring as I like to call it, will not harm you. Orgasms are good for your complexion (healthy blood flow) and other parts of your body. It keeps everything working nicely. Genitals can change color due to a change in blood flow - it doesn't have anything to do with how clean or unclean "down there" you are. Of course, clean is better! As others have mentioned, see your doc if you have concerns - worry-free will lead to a better night's rest!

I also have this problem. I am a virgin and I do t masterbate. I don't shove my finger I'n I just rub my clit. But my clit is rather large. And it's sagging and wrinkle and dark down my the backside torwars my actual vagina. It's not sore or ichy or anything my clit is just large. Maybe I should wash better down there or stop masterbathing?

I have the same problem, i thought it was from how i would sit on the side of a chiar and that maybe it just lost blood flow. But as long as you keep it clean and it dosnt hurt it should be fine. Some people just have a natural purple pinkish color. But if u still are worryed u should call your doctor and make an apoitment.

sometimes if you are pregnant, the color changes to a purplish color. I did. But if you are not sexually active IDK...

I have the same issue. I've noticed a darkening of my clitoris and the lips of my vagina while the actual flesh is still a bright pink. I've made the assumption that its due to years of crossing my legs and wearing extremely tight jeans. I get a Pap Test every 4-6 months and the doctor has never said anything, although I'm going to inquire about it as it is a growing concern.

Hi,
I also was going to ask if you have any other symptoms associated with this (itching, pain, swelling). An important piece of information: how long you have noticed this change in color? Days? Months?
You mentioned that you are not sexually active. Have you noticed any of these:
- Has there been any changes in your soaps, detergents, shaving creams, clothes, etc, that could have been an allergic reaction?
- Any injury to the area, even a slight "bump", which could include shaving or any hair removal, that could have causes this (I would assume there would have been some swelling also?).
If you said "no" to all of these, and do not know what could have caused this, you may want to call your doctor (do you have an OB/GYN that you see on an annual basis?). You can call their office, and they usually let you talk to a nurse if you have a question--s/he will let you know if you should be seen.

When a woman is aroused, your genitals can tend to turn a purple color due to the increase of blood flow just like men do with an erection.
If you are experiencing a purple color constantly, this may be due to an infection. Lichen Simplex is often associated with a chronic purple color which is almost like a yeast infection. You should seek medical attention if the condition is chronic. You can find more information here provided by the Medline Plus http://www.nlm.nih.gov/medlineplus/ency/article/000872.htm.
Are you sexually active? Are you experiencing any pain, discharge or unpleasant odors?
