Hello CHRISSYSMITH,

I would record your "period" for October as starting on the 4th. Wait and see what happens next month. Keeping a record of when your period starts and what the flow is like is a good idea. That way you have something to present to your physician.

Hello CHRISSYSMITH,

I would like to welcome you to the EmpowHER website and thank you for reaching out to us to help answer your question.

I realize that you are confused and anxious by this sudden change in your menstrual cycle. Each person understands her body best and this sudden change must be startling and unsettling.

CHRISSYSMITH, I am wondering if this change might indicate that you are entering perimenopause. Perimenopause is a transition period when estrogen and progesterone levels fluctuate. These hormonal fluctuations can cause changes in a woman's menstrual cycle.

Some women start having perimenopausal symptoms in their 40s. If I may ask, how old are you?

Regards,

Maryann
