hi there

I am hiv positive and my surgeon knows, not only am I happy about this but he is my first choice and one of the top surgeons in toronto possibly Canada.

I am soo excited, and happy with my results, I got a tummy tuck, and breast augumentation done on Feb 17th, and he just wanted paperwork sent from my immunologist with my currebt cd4 etc, I'm glad I did this, and feel that I can still enjoy the rest of my life!
And he charged me same as everyone else!!

I am a 31yr old female living with HIV. Have been on successful antiviral treatment and have obtained an undetectable viral load. No other conditions or complications. Was refused surgery and really disapointed with the service offered. I think surgeons should be educated on dealing with HIV cases otherwise why take up a medical proffession. I chose to inform them of my condition because it was the right thing to do, how many other women have gone through with surgery and not declared their status. Im so angry and hurt but will keep hunting for someone willing to take me on.

Can you tell us more about what you are wondering about, and did the above responses answer your question? If no, can you tell us what your exact question and situation are?

Cotton,

Here's what I love about your question: You are, absolutely, LIVING with your condition. You have HIV but you are not letting it limit what you want out of life.

I do have a question for you. Based on the way you phrased your question, I am wondering this: Did you ask from strictly a medical point of view? As in the need for blood transfusions, wound-healing, and so on? Or is there something else about your having HIV that is making you doubt whether to do this?

Can we find more detail on anything specific for you?
