Hi I am 40 years old.. I first marriage lasted only one year at the age of 30 and now I have got remarried at the age of 40 again just 3 months back. My first period was about 10 days before my actual date in the first month of mariage and after that just 6 days before. In the last month I did not have my periods. I assumed I was pregnant but when i did a home pregnancy test, it was negaitve. I visited a gynae and she gave me Modus 10 mg to take for 5 days twice a day.. She told me it wud taken 4-5 days to get myperiods again. but it has been 5 days and I have not got my periods. Now it is more than 1-1/2 months that I have not had nmy periods. IN my whole life, I have never been late in my periods. they were alwyas a week before or 3-4 days before. I am worried whether it is menopause. .. I wnat to get pregnant as want to extend my family. Please suggest me what to do immediately.

Hi coolice,

I'm sorry that you're worried about the possibility of going through perimenopause.

As menopause approaches, women often experience a number of physical and emotional symptoms including:

Irregular menstrual periods
Hot flashes and night sweats
Disturbed sleep patterns, insomnia
Anxiety
Significant mood changes
Depression
Dry skin
Irritability
Vaginal dryness and pain with sexual intercourse
Difficulty concentrating
Trouble remembering things
Diminished interest in sex
Frequent urination or leaking of urine
Headaches
Achy joints
Fatigue
Early morning awakening
Diagnosis

The doctor will ask about your symptoms and medical history, and perform a physical exam. The doctor may perform blood tests, a pelvic exam, and a Pap smear. Natural menopause is usually diagnosed when a woman has not had a menstrual period for 12 consecutive months.

You will need to go back to your doctor for a more thorough evaluation and let her know that you are trying to conceive to see what her thoughts are.

Best,

Rosa
