Hello there. I was a meliane pill user for years then when i transferred location i had changed a new GP (general practice). So now i am using microgynon. Started a new pack yesterday after stopping for a month. Had my period friday night and took the first pill saturday afternoon.i usually taking my pill on the monday.but yesterday i messed it up. Took the monday one instead of saturday. And what i did today is, took my pill backward. Took the sunday one today then maybe tomorrow the saturday one so i can cope up and take the right orders from tuesday onwards? Am i doing the right thing? If i use a barrier method for a week, then barrier free for the next wek, am i be covered for pregnancy? Please help me. Thank you so much

Hello,

I see what you mean now.

During the time you are not taking your pills consistently, it is wise to use a condom.  After you start taking your pills again, wait a few days of taking them consistently every day, before you can stop using condoms.  After 4 or 5 days of taking the pill, the you do not have to keep using a condom.

Hello, and thank you for sharing your question with the community.  I know this must be frustrating for you, but I have some information that will put your mind at ease.

Microgynon 30 is a monophasic pill, which means that every pill has the same dosage of hormones.  The pills you take during the week you are on your period, are filler pills with no hormones in them.  This means that taking them in a different order will not make a difference.  The only thing that will keep this contraceptive from being effective is if you miss a day.  In conclusion, as long as you take a pill every day, the contraceptive will prevent pregnancy up to 99%.

Let us know if you have any more questions.

Sorry, i just want to ask if i will be covered for pregnancy if me and my husband would not use a barrier for the next 7 days since you said it would be fine even if i take the microgynon pills in any order?

Thank you so much.

Hello,

I am not sure what you mean by barrier. But, I want to be certain you know that if you stop taking the pills, your body not longer has to defenses to prevent pregnancy.  So, as long as you are taking the pills will not get pregnanct.

Hi there again..sorry for the confusion. What i meant with barrier is a method to use such as condoms while on a contraceptive pills and you have messed them up. Am i safe to have an intercourse this week since i have messed up with my new pack of pills last week without any using another form of barrier method this time? Coz since i messed up with the new pack, me and my husband been using a barrier everytime we have sex.

Thank you
