Hi,
I had gotten what I thought was my period on June 25,2014, and instead of lasting the usual 5-6 days, it lasted 11. The weird thing is it only came from morning and left around dinner time everyday until the last two days where it was there all day. It lasted until July 5th or 6th. I experienced mild cramping, nausea, diarrhea, back aches, and mood swings.During all this, this thing it was somewhat heavy and was dark reddish brown color. When I'd go to change a pad, I noticed some little clot like things come out when I'd pee or while. I didn't bleed again until August 9th but only on that one day. Ever since then, it hasn't come. Supposedly my next period is due on august 26th. What's going on?

I am so thankful because you do have a blog for this issue. I am 25 years old. I have a lot of questions to ask. After having a contact with my partner, 2 weeks after I guess I had a miscarriage because I was bleeding for 4 days I did not tell this to my parent since were not yet married. I kept this as a secret so I used napkin to solve my problem. Why I say so that I experienced miscarriage because its not yet my period time. Is it ok that I did not see a doctor? Then I am confused whether i am really pregnant or not because its just two weeks after we did it and my period has not yet come since its not its schedule yet. please do help me about this.
thank you and Godbless

Hi Anonymous,

Thank you for your question and welcome to Empowher. I am so sorry for your loss. The after effects (bleeding) that occurs after a miscarriage is different with each woman. I wish I could give you a definitive answer although the research suggests that most woman suffer from spotting or bleeding for several weeks after a miscarriage. If you have concerns, certainly follow up with your doctor. I am sure you are already getting follow up blood testing for your hormone levels.

Again, I am so sorry to hear about your loss and let us know if there is anything else that we can help you with.
