Hello. I missed my saturday night birth control pill and take it on sunday morning (about 12 hours and 20 minutes late). its the first pill of the 3rd week (15/21) I've had sex on friday and saturday morning. Chance of pregnancy? My period is about to start next monday after 5 days.If i have it, does that mean i'm safe?

Guide

Hello Anonymous,

Welcome to EmpowHER. Thank you for reaching out to us with your question.

Since it was one pill of week three, and you made up for the missed dose, I think you should still have been protected. Birth control pills prevent pregnancy by preventing ovulation.

If you do not have any withdrawal bleeding during the week of placebo pills, test for pregnancy before starting a new pack.

Regards,
Maryann
