My wife and I want to have a baby next year and she has just switched to taking Yazmin 3 months ago. She is forgetful and never takes them on time or the same time each day. She just informed me that she has missed taking 2 pills in the 3rd week and she has not made them up, she is still 2 days behind, today being Tuesday she has Sunday and Monday left in pack and not done the double up scenario (something tells me I am better at this then she).....we have very regular sex...so what are the risks of pregnancy? Please give us the straight scoop....Thank you....DavnTuk

Well, it's entirely up to her. Most women who get pregnant while on birth control don't find out until after the fact and their babies are fine. However, if you don't want to take the risk she can stop taking them this month and resume if and when she gets her period but you will have to use condoms or another form of birth control in the meantime (or you can continue trying to conceive this month :-))

Birth control pills will not give you a false read on a pregnancy test. Once she does miss her period, she can take a pregnancy test.

So what I am reading here is that she has missed 2-pills, she has not made them up...so the "DEED" may well be done. At this point she never made up the difference by doubling the pills as told to do when you miss.....so that was my original question...what percentage would you say on a scale of 1-10?? She missed 2-days and did not double up on the pills so they are still "MISSED" at this point.....and we do make love alot....she should just continue until they are gone and wait and see if she has her period and IF she does not then do not start pills again??? do a pregnancy check......Am I reading you correctly here??

Hi DavnTuk,

Birth control pills can be very effective when taken correctly. The fact that your wife has not only forgotten to take 2 but didn't make up for them the day(s) after they were missed significantly decreases effectiveness therefore making pregnancy possible. I can't tell you if she is or isn't pregnant, but she definitely can be.

Good Luck to you!

Dear Rosa......Thank you for your interest and also your comment. We were planning to have a baby later next year so if the date gets moved up.....Well that is life....Tuktar was concerned because IF she gets pregnant because she missed the pills and did not make them up and she is Pregnant how will she know??? It is possible with these pills to have a false read on a pregnancy test and it is also possible for her to miss her period at the end of the month as well..so if she continues to take the pills and she is pregnant, these pills have a larger percentage of having Birth Defects then any other pills available, so I have read.
My question is this.....She missed the pills back-to-back and when she realized she had, she just continued on as if nothing happened.....she is now 4 days past when she missed the pills, she has been taking them regular since however she is 2-days behind as they are in her carrier still. Here we are on Tuesday and she has Sunday and Monday in the carrier. She missed them last Wednesday/Thursday....and we make love everyday........SOooooo!?! and sperm lives from 4-7 days......???? This may then be an Oooops situation...so should we just stop taking the pills? and wait and see?
