mucosal erythema terminal ileum?

I had a diagnosis on Erythema of the terminal ileum.
a month later I had a Right hemi colectomy and mow have Neuroendocrine cancer the terminal ilium was the Primary site Mesentery lymph nodes the secondary and I am stage 4 when it hits my liver I'm out of here

Have just had exactly the same result after colonoscopy, had an endoscopy at the same time. 18 samples for biopsy were taken in total. It is scary when you read the reports of these tests without having access to the results or the consultant. However, I know that if there was a major life altering possible outcome (a bad result) they would contact you as soon as possible, bearing in mind that most test results are back with doctors so soon these days. I have looked up countless medical terms in the past and thought the worst for no reason in the past. If there is a problem, they will get in touch with you as soon as possible. That does sound slightly scary..who wants the word "terminal" in a lab report?! Here is the breakdown of what each word means, and you will need to talk with your doctor about the interpretation of the results... are you able to call and speak with a nurse or doctor?

Mucosal= mucus lining
Erythema= redness (could indicate inflammation)
Terminal= end/distal portion of tissue
Ileum= part of small intestine

What your doctor found was some redness at the end of your small intestine. Redness sometimes can indicate some inflammation or infection, other times it does not. Your doctor will need to explain the findings, but since nothing was said to you (which is really too bad!!), that they are not concerned and may want to see if the redness resolves itself within the next two months; an excellent question for your doctor!
