My 6 year old has ulcerative colitis. How much olive oil should I give her to help ease the condition?

My 6 year old was diagnosed last year with ulcerative colitis. She is on 2.5ml of prednisolone at the moment everyother day,she had developed pancreatitis taking imuran and pentasa. What i would like to know since i've read about olive oil, how much should i give a 6 year old? she has been on steroids for nearly a year now. Thanks

Thank you for your question and for finding EmpowHER. This really is a question for your son's pediatrician and/or gastroenterologist. It has been published that in addition to medication, following an anti-inflammatory diet may help relieve symptoms of inflammatory bowel disorders like ulcerative colitis. However, it is important to work with your doctors on identifying the cause of your son's problem so you are sure to not cause more problems in treatment.
