My 7 1/2 year old daughter just recently got a new mole on her face. It is raised and black in color. It is smaller than the size of a pencil eraser, but my 11 year old daughter said something about it today saying it's getting bigger. I scheduled my daughter an appointment tomorrow with her pediatrician to get it checked out. My daughter is dark complicated and has a lot of moles already. The only difference is that this one is raised and black in color. I'm really nervous...Is it normal for a 7 year old to get a new mole out of the blue like this??

Hey Jamiestroud, Glad to hear you've scheduled an appointment for your daughter. You may take some comfort in knowing mothers like yourself have discovered moles on their children as well.

We posted a similar question this summer to a team of dermatologists to find out what they had to say. You can read the original question along with expert responses at the link below ...
