She was suffering from stomach ache since months so she was diagnosed with gall stones. So she was getting surgery for the same. But during surgery doctors noticed about small polyps and finally diagnosed with colon cancer after investigations. So now it has been said to get chemotherapy done. So wanted to know about this. Whether wil it be cured after chemotherapy.? And is there any severe side effects? And what diet has to be given to her. She is diabetic since 25 years.

Hi Anon

Thanks for your post.

Since every woman is different, we can only speak generally.

Stage 2 cancer is quite curable but it also depends on many factors like the person's age, general health and whether it will spread or not. 60 is considered relatively young by medical standards now so that's a good thing.

In terms of diet, it's also important. There are no magic tricks but lots of fiber and fresh fruit are very important. You can also read more on diet and colon cancer here:

The survival rate for stage 2A cancer is nearly 90%, according to cancer.org. For stage 2B it's about 63% but it's all on a case by case basis really.

Your friend's aunt need to talk in depth with her doctor about her own particular treatment and prognosis.

She can take a look at our color cancer community here:

We wish her the best,
