Yesterday, Saturday, I noticed red on my left breast above the nipple area, and it aches if I touch it, not slightly, but if I press in. I examined both of my breasts, around the nipple area and right on my left nipple its hard, and not the right one. Please tell me what may be wrong

What I listed were the causes-- they don't all apply to you. In pregnancy it happens when the breasts become engorged with milk.
If it's still present and bothering you, please consult your doctor since it needs to be assessed by a medical professional.
Good Luck,
Rosa

Hi undovibe25,
Welcome to EmpowHER's and thanks for your question. Most lumps in the breast are non cancerous(benign), can be due to hormonal changes like Rosa had stated especially at your age. But always keep in mind Early detection can be a big plus in treating breast cancer. That's why it's very important to see your doctor. Please keep us posted.

Hi undovibe25,
Try not to worry, most breast lumps are not cancer..Especially at the age of 18 when it may be caused by hormones.
Some causes of breast pain are:
Fibrocystic breast disease
Premenstrual syndrome, cyclic mastalgia
Normal hormonal fluctuations
Onset of puberty or menopause
Pregnancy
Breastfeeding (nursing)
Estrogen therapy
Chest wall tenderness (costochondritis)
Injury to the breast (trauma, after breast surgery)
Shingles (pain is only in 1 breast, usually accompanied by a rash)
Use of certain medications such as digoxin (Lanoxin), methyldopa (Aldomet), spironolactone (Aldactone), oxymetholone (Anadrol), and chlorpromazine (Thorazine)
An infection in the breast (breast abscess, mastitis)
Breast cancer
Since you say that the area is red and hard, please see your doctor. While it could be caused by hormones it can also be an infection. Please keep us posted,
Rosa
