My husband has dark purple spots (2) on his lower lip and one on his ear. What causes these?

He has had these spots for 10 or more years. He was visiting his doctor when his doctor suggested he needed to see a dermatologist. He said that the spots had to do with his liver.

Not sure what causes the spots, hormones or what. Seeing a dermatologist will let you know what the purple spots are. Also the doctor can let you know what the cause is from and how to get rid of them.

Welcome to EmpowHER.  Many things can be the cause of these spots.  Sometimes sun exposure through the years c, hormonal imbalance and many other.  It's important he see's a specialist such as a dermatologist.  To know the real cause of these spots.
