I'm 26 yrs, married for past 10 months. I normally get my periods on 28 days cycle however this month i crossed 28 days an my periods is yet to start. I've never had this problem before except four months back (on nov'2009) i missed by a couple of weeks. when i consulted a gyno doc she gave me urine test for pregnancy, which was negative. within a week my periods started. I requested my doc to check my physical ability to conceive as i had a doubt if i can conceive. everything was fine except for IGG Rubella blood test which was 9 on count normal being 15count. i took a vaccination and i was advised not to conceive following three months. feb 2010 being the third month i thought for preparing myself after this months period which should have come on 1st march (as per 28 days cycle) but its yet to come. now I'm confused if there is any problem in my health? Please help

Hi,
I would also love to help answer your question, but am not sure what your exact questions are? I am currently pregnant (week 36..almost at my due date!) with my second child, and am obviously very interested in this topic right now!

You said you receive excellent prenatal care, but also want to know "everything" about pregnancy...the do's and don'ts. There are entire websites and a litany of books that discuss pregnancy, so it is impossible for us to answer this broad of a topic. Do you have specific questions that you would like answered?

Pavithran84,

The most important thing you can do to make sure you have a healthy baby and delivery is to get good prenatal care, going to see a doctor as soon as you know you are pregnant and following up with that doctor throughout your pregnancy. Is that possible where you live?

There are a lot of elements to a healthy pregnancy: diet, nutrition, exercise, regular checkups, and monitoring of the baby as it grows. A web guide cannot substitute for that. Can you tell us what makes it so complicated in the south of India?

There are many wonderful books that you could order from amazon.com or amazon.co.uk. Would you be interested in that?

Yes, we do have all those facilities. such as, doctors, monitoring the childs growth etc. In south India we are very emotional and strongly believe that mother gets her second birth after delivery of the child especially the first child. Though we have all the facilities and ultra featured hospitality there are more rate of delivery through surgery than normal delivery. It might be because we are afraid of the pain and situation.

Hi Pavithran84,

Welcome to EmpowHer, and thank you so much for your question.

Did you have unprotected sex in February? Is it possible that you got pregnant then?

If you didn't have unprotected sex, I don't think there's a problem with your health. I think your period is just late. It's very common for women's periods to be late once in a while (even when they are normally regular) due to hormonal changes in our bodies. You're not even a week late yet; I wouldn't stress about it too much, as that can make things worse.

If I were you, I would give it a few more days and if it still doesn't come, take a home pregnancy test and see if you might have become pregnant this month.
