My mom was diagnosed with breast cancer only on one side they removed the breast and said they got all of the cancer now they want to do 8 months of chemotherapy is this normal?

Thank you for your question and I am very sorry about your mom's diagnosis. 

There is no "normal" really, in cancer, but there are certain generalities we can see, and what your mom will go through is pretty standard for many women with cancer. 

It's terrific that they got all the cancer out but chemo is done as a precaution. If the cancer is early - really early - in some cases nothing is done other than the surgery. But many women can and do go on to chemo as an assurance.
