I have been coughing since January, sometimes with coughing fits. My mucus is sometimes clear or white and sticky. I have been taking Musinex Expectorant for over 5 mths. Drs I have seen PCP, lung, heart, kidney. Have had lung x-ray and ecko on my heart. No one can tell me anything. My husband has the same thing and we both have shortness of breath. He has had lung x-rays, breathing tests and CT Scan, still no results. Any ideas?..................Thanks for your time.

It might allergy induced. If that has not already been ruled out, see an allergist (a medical practitioner specializing in the diagnosis and treatment of allergies).

Drink plenty of liquids, especially hot liquids which can help loosen mucus. Ask your pharmacist what they recommend. I find using an expectorant helps. A popular one is Mucinex If your cough persists see your doctor.
