Along with the great information Diane has given you, I have to say that my personal experience two weeks before my period was similar to those first few weeks of pregnancy. Since ovulation means your body is preparing for pregnancy, it makes sense. You may have tender breasts or abdomen, feel tired and irritable.

My instinct is that you are merely ovulating. That means if you don't want to get pregnant, do NOT have unprotected sex for the next week. Even though ovulation is short (48 hours or thereabouts), it's not at the exact same time every month. And remember that sperm can stay alive in your body for up to 72 hours. This means if you have unprotected sex on a Tuesday and ovulate on a Thursday, you can get pregnant on Friday morning from the sex you had on Tuesday.

You can also take a test in about 10 days. Make sure it's a early pregnancy test, and most will tell you if you are pregnant before you are even late for your period.

Good luck and keep us updated!

Hi, Anon, and welcome to Empowher!

Yes, if you had sex the day before you ovulated, it's very possible to get pregnant. But I'm not sure i understand something else that you said; when you say your period isn't for 2 weeks, does that mean you are two weeks late? Or that you don't expect your period to come for about two more weeks?

Do you know the date of your last period, and the days when you had unprotected sex and when you ovulated?

hello diane,

I have a question.... If I am not due for my period until Oct. 14-18th...and, I was on the nuva ring for not even 20days, and took it out early, and had un protected sex about 5 days later, could I be pregnant? I know it's too early for any tests, but I have a weird feeling.

Hi, Alahaye, and thank you for your question!

Yes, if you removed the Nuva Ring early and had unprotected sex, you could become pregnant. Birth control works by releasing a low level of hormones daily in order to prevent ovulation; when you stop that birth control, ovulation is possible.

I'm a little unsure about your timing. You say that you had the Nuva Ring in for about 20 days, and had sex 5 days later, which is 25 days, but your period is not due for another couple of weeks?

HI. I'm new to all this. But need help. I ovulated on Monday 21st, I am using clear blue ovulation kits. Today I have noticed a mild dull ache seeming to come from inside me. I am not due my period for another 2 weeks, 28 day cycle and Monday was day 14, so I know these are not period pains. I just wondered if anyone else has gone through this? I have noticed a mild cramp before when ovulating but this is very different. Could I be pregnant? My husband and I had sex Saturday, Sunday and Monday (well we are trying!)

Ive been cramping for like 1 or 2 weeks. and my period is July 16th or 19th. but ive been cramping and ive been feeling like to puke but i don't. ive been WAY more sleepy then normal. And there is no bleeding or anything. Just cramps and feel like to puke. Ive been drinking WAY more pop then normal and i have the normal discharge that is very annoying. I have to pee alot more but it also maybe because of the pop. Ive been hungry alot though but thats normal. Im just wondering if i should be worried. I dont want to wait my money on a prego test if im not. and i dont have anything to the dr with so i cant do that. what should i do?

Hi, Anon, and welcome to EmpowHer. Thanks so much for your question.

It sounds like you have pretty irregular periods, Anon, has this always been true?

Have you tried any of the over-the-counter fertility tests that help you figure out when you are ovulating?

You may want to learn how to chart your basal body temperature. It is a cheap, easy way to learn when you are ovulating each month. Here are some tips from about.com on how to correctly take a basal body temperature:

http://infertility.about.com/od/tryingtoconceive101/ht/howtotakeBBT.htm

And here's a page from the American Pregnancy Association that talks about signs of ovulation, including basal body temperature charting and monthly changes in the cervix and cervical fluid:

http://americanpregnancy.org/gettingpregnant/signsovulation.html

How long have you been trying to get pregnant? It takes many healthy couples several months to conceive. Don't stress about it too much. I know that's a lot easier said than done, especially when you are hoping for a baby and it seems to take so long. Take care, and please write back and update us, OK?
