Q:

My tubes are tied but my period has been off the past two months, what could it be?

After my 3rd child was born i went 6 weeks later and had a tubal ligation. My period came as usual though i did notice that instead of the normal 6-8 days it went down to like 4-5 days. For 3 years it stayed like that. Then suddenly last month i was 5 days late, bought a pregnancy test but never took it because my period started that same night. It was very light considering how late I was, and only lasted 3 days. barely. Now this month, it was 3 almost 4 days late, and only lasted maybe 48hrs. I'm scared to take the test now because i know its going to be positive, but at the same time everything I've read about pregnancies after a tubal usually means an ectopic pregnancy with LOTS and LOTS of pain, which I've had none of. not even my usual cramps. What the heck????

Hello Anonymous,

Welcome to EmpowHER. I can appreciate your anxiety and hesitation to test.
Not knowing can be just as anxiety provoking.

Take the test tomorrow morning. Use the urine when you first wake up.

Regardless of the result, please call and speak with your gynecologist.

Keep us updated,
Maryann
