Guide

Hi Anon,

Thank you for sharing your question with the EmpowHER community.

You've had a Tubal Ligation (the closing of the fallopian tubes) and since you have now missed your period, you're concerned you could be pregnant?

Tubal Ligations are not 100% at preventing pregnancy.  There is a slight risk of 5 out of 1,00 women becoming pregnant after a tubal ligation in their first year of having the procedure done.   That risk increases to 13 out of 1,000 after the 5 year mark.   Even though the risk is there, it is very rare.

The easiest way to know is to take a home pregnancy test. If negative, make an appointment to see your doctor to explore other potential causes.

I hope this helps.

Be well,

~Gillette
