Negative P Test but late period?

Hi, my last cycle started December 30 and was four days late. This was very weird for me and led to a lot of stress. It lasted about 7 days and was noticeably "thicker" than my past periods. Since then, I have only had protected sex once. I had sex on January 30, the day before my period was due (based on a tracking app). We used a condom and checked for breakage by filling it up with water after; there was none. However I am now four days late and really stressing....I feel slight, momentary cramps once or twice a day, but no period. I took a test and received a negative, but I am still worried. Why would my period be late? Could the sex the day before my expected period produce a viable pregnancy? How long should I wait to test again if I tested on three days light with a high accuracy test? Thank you for any help to ease my worries...I simply cannot afford a pregnancy right now..

Thank you Susan, I understand that it could be a hormonal imbalance and I could even miss this month, but I have another question. If there was some way (although the condom didn't break and it was the day before due period) I conceived, when would I be able to take an accurate test?
