hi, I'm seventeen years old. My last period started around August 8th and went to the 14th. Now it's October and I haven't gotten another one. I really, really don't think I am pregnant because I haven't had sex since May. Even then it was protected, and I had three periods (June, July, August) after that. I keep getting really bad pains on my right side. It feels like something is twisting down there! I just have no idea what is going on. I am sooo stressed right now, could that be it? Any answers would be greatly appreciated. thanks.

sounds like you might have a small ovary cyst.. don't start to panic because most of them are not a big deal and can appear as a consequence of stress.. i had one myself ages ago, same thing, a lot of stress, no period and a pain on the right side, especially while doing abs or sports that involved lower abs.. went for an ultrasound and there it was.. and it left by itself, as it came.

Hi Anonymous

It is possible that you are stressed, but it is also possible that you have something going on. I suggest you make an appointment with your health care provider to be sure everything is alright with you.

Sometimes stress can make you miss a period, and sometimes teens in particular have irregular cycles, but because of the pain I think it's a good idea to get checked out.

Please let us know how you do. Thank you for writing and good luck.
