i had sex on the 15th of Feb i think and i had my period on time. it seemed normal. now however i'm frequently going to the toilet and my breasts feel heavy nd my stomach feels funny. my friends say it is possible to be pregnant even though i had my period? we used a condom but i'm unsure if there was leakage. could i be freaking out for no reason? i am not ready to have a child at this point in my life

Hi Anonymous,
Having a period generally is an indication you are not pregnant. It is impossible to have a period when pregnant. It is rare to see blood present when pregnant and anything more than very a tiny amount of spotting can indicate possible miscarriage, so if you were pregnant and bled, you would need to call your doctor immediately to be checked out. I know how it can be confusing, because period symptoms can seem like symptoms of early pregnancy, and your period can change every once in a while causing more confusion. But rest assured if you're having a period, you're not pregnant.

If this bleeding lasts more than one panty liner, you're not pregnant. Be calm. A pregnancy test would confirm that you are not pregnant and put your mind at ease. If you are concerned, call your doctor and ask them if you need to be seen.
