Q:

Normal Period or pregnant?

I skipped my last period as I was going on vacation and took my birth control pills continuous, starting my new pack July 9th (Sunday), right after finishing all active pills in my last pack the day before. I was 8 hours late on Tuesday, July 11th taking my birth control pill and I was 8 hours late on Saturday, July 15th taking my birth control. I had sex on Wednesday, July 12th to Saturday, July 15th using the withdrawn method (I know this is not safe) and I am confident that he did not finish inside me.

This week is my withdrawal week starting on Sunday taking no pills. Tuesday, August 1st, I started to bleed, it was light but red. Today, Thursday, August 3rd, I have almost no bleeding and am done with my bleed. So, my withdrawal bleeding was only 2 days. Is this concerning and am I still at a risk of being pregnant? Or is this a more typical birth control type withdrawal bleeding. I am taking a regular dose birth control.

Hello Anon

Thank you for writing.

Being 8 hours late, twice, is not going to raise the risk of pregnancy. You had a period, even if it was a very light one so pregnancy is highly unlikely. A test can confirm this for you.
Best,
Susan
