Open cut (sore?) on labia majora

I am 13 and have some kind of open cut on me down there. I’ve had them before. Recently, they came just before I had my period. There was no itching, burning or anything. It’s like a circle and it bleeds sometimes. It doesn’t hurt unless something rubs or digs into it (like a pad) and it stings for a second then stops and I won’t notice it. What is it? Is it common? Is it an std? (I’ve never had sex before in my life)

Guide

Hello. Thank you for your post.

A vaginal or labial cut or tear (fissure) is a painful split, crack or break in the mucous membrane (skin) inside the vagina, on the inner or outer labia (vulva), on the perineum, or around the clitoris or clitoral hood. Most times, there is no cause for concern and will heal on its own.

We cannot know exactly what it is you have or what may be causing it. You need to be checked out if your cuts, sores or tears don’t heal, bleed, seem infected, you have abnormal discharge or are in pain that isn’t abating. If you can, speak to your mother about it and see what she feels.
