Over dosage of Postinor 2

I took both pills in one dosage, is this dangerous or less effective? Also, what are the usual side effects after taking the pills and how soon after? I took the pills about a 17 days ago and now I'm spotting ( not heavy but blood is present). Could this be a side effect?

Hello Corina,

Nipple discharge is not a reported side effect of Postinor 2. However, certain medications, including birth control pills, can cause nipple discharge. Postinor 2 contains levonorgestrel, which is a synthetic hormone found in
progestogen-only contraceptives.

I suggest you not squeeze, this may make matters worse. If you have not had a recent gynecologic exam, now may be a good time to schedule one.

Maryann

I took some pills for abortion in october and confirmed a few weeks after i wasnt pregnant again. I had unprotected sex last week friday and took the full dose of postinor2 the morning after less than 12hours. How effective is the postinor considering i just had an abortion not too long and i am yet to see my period.

Hello Anonymous,

You have upset the normal balance of hormones that control your menstrual cycle. Taking Postinor 2 when there was no need, and taking four tablets is one month caused harm to your body.

It can take a month or more for your menstrual cycles to return to normal.

Hi. I wanna thank you for through great job you doing. I wanna ask, if taking too doses of postinor-2 at once can make it less effective? I took one dose of postinor-1 early of my unprotected sex and later after nine hours, i took the two doses of postinor-2. What are dangers of this act? Can it make the doses unwork?

Hello Anonymous,

By not taking Postinor 2 as directed, but doubling the dose, you have overdosed.
All drugs, including an emergency contraceptive are potent, have an impact on the normal functions of the body and have serious side effects.
You have given your body a double dose of a potent hormone. Subsequently, you have upset the intricate and normal balance of your menstrual cycle. You can expect changes. You may be later or early in starting your next period. The menstrual flow may be heavier or lighter than normal. It may take a month or more for your body to return to normal.

Hello Anonymous,
To be most effective, she must take the first Postinor 2 tablet within 72 hours of unprotected sex and take the second tablet 12 hours after taking the first one.
My recommendation for the future is to use birth control. An emergency contraceptive is not meant to be used as birth control but rather for an emergency situation.

Maryann
