So I was on the Mirena IUD from June 2008 until November 2011. The doctor had a difficult time taking it out because it had moved up farther into my cervix. I then immediately started taking birth control pills. My boyfriend and I are trying to conceive so I stopped taking the pill last month. I have yet to have any periods since my Mirena and the doctor said it could take up to months to get back on a regular cycle. I have been having unprotected sex. And I noticed that my whole lower abdomen has been extremely sore, my breast are very sore and hurt to touch, and I am also more tired than normal. My biggest concern though is my tender stomach. I took a test today and it said it was negative. What could this be?

Hi Shanleepf,
According to your doctor it might a few months before getting a regualar cycle again. Have you told your doctor about your symptoms. They might be due to the changes in your cycle, But can also be due to pregnancy. It's best to see your doctor and have him do bloodwork. To check if you are in deed pregnant.
Best,
Daisy

I have been having symptoms of pregnancy including nausea, dizziness, fatigue, constipation, discharge, sore breasts, stuffy nose, sore throat, high temps, frequent urination, and I seem to never be able to drink enough fluids. Like I said, I took a test yesterday and it was negative but maybe I just took it too soon. Should I wait like another week to take another one or can all these symptoms just be something else?

Hi Shanleepf,
Welcome to EmpowHER. One of the side effects for Mirena is changes in menstrual cycle. It might be good to let your doctor know about your sore stomach. He might advise in having an ultrasound or some kind of imaging test.
Best,
Daisy
