I have been experiencing sharp pains in my left rib cage due to an accidental collision from a friend. I have been to the doctor's and did an x-ray of my left rib cage area and told me they couldn't see any fractures or anything broken thank goodness. The doctor stated it could possibly be bruised but it feels worse than that. I am aware that an x-ray cannot detect fractures. The symptoms that I have been experiencing are pain whilst breathing, an unbearable pain when coughing and complications generally moving about and sleeping. Could it be fractured? And how can I help heal this issue?

Hi Anon,
Welcome to EmpowHER. The pain can be from a fractured or bruised rib. You need to let your doctor know, how you are still feeling. He might need to perform other imaging test.
Best,
Daisy
