I had a pap smear done three times mainly because there wasn't enough cells. I am a virgin and the pap smear did hurt even though the doctor used a small brush for the pap smear test. The brush pinched me and I felt soar for three days. Does the pap smear suppose to hurt when you are a virgin?

Hi Anon,

Welcome to EmpowHER. It's possible, since you've never an intercourse.  The instrument used to collect the cervical cells may stretch or even tear your hymen.  The thin tissue covering the vaginal opening, which is present in some women who've never had sex.

Best,

Daisy
