my bf and i had a sexual contact but he only inserted his penis for about 10 seconds only because i refused to go all the way since i wasn't sure if i was safe on that day and we didn't make use of any contraceptives. are there possibilities of pregnancy? too paranoid.

oh, yeah. we've been doing it without any protection for quite some time now but that was the last contact-the 10sec moment. i have no problems with std's because i'm his 1st and he's my first so we're safe with that . my only paranoia is pregnancy. unwanted pregnancy. i've told him that we won't do it until we use a protection so we've been abstaining :) however, my paranoia won't end unless i get my next period. i'm expecting it next week. ugh. i've never appreciated my period until i started having sex. thanks for the concern alison! :)

Hi janelle,
I can't help but notice the discrepancy in your answer, however! You describe yourself as super paranoid that you would use two forms of birth control simultaneously, yet at the same time, choose not to use any form of birth control and have unprotected sex?

It's actually not paranoid to use birth control pills and condoms...it is a very healthy and safer way to have sex! No form of birth control is 100% effective, and using condoms can also protect you from STIs (sexually transmitted infections) and STDs (sexually transmitted diseases).

Be sure to talk with your doctor about your birth control options, and have some condoms already-purchased and in a convenient location if you choose to have sex again! Be safe!

Janelle,
Anytime you have unprotected intercourse, there is a chance of pregnancy. The reason is that there is pre-ejaculatory fluid on the tip of a man's penis when he becomes erect, and this may or may not contain sperm.

If he really only inserted his penis inside your vagina for 10 seconds and then withdrew his penis, the chance of pregnancy is extremely small, and I would not worry about it (or be too "paranoid") and just wait until your next period begins.

Does this help?
