Period 3 days late

My period is 3 days late and I'm not sure why. The last time I had sex was last month the day my period ended and he used a condom and also pulled out so I'm pretty sure it can not be pregnancy. I also took a pregnancy test the first day of my missed period and it came out negative. But I am still nervous since my period is 3 days late and I've been pretty worried over it . I was sick
This month and my diet has been changing so could that be a reason? My period usually comes on time so I am trying to figure out why it would be late

Guide

Hello and welcome to EmpowHer,
I know it may be perplexing to have a late period. But it is not because of pregnancy, as you thought, for the reasons you mentioned.
It is common for periods to be late or irregular and is not necessarily due to any serious issue.
As you said, it could be due to illness or a change in diet. It could also be due to stress, medication, dramatic changes in sleeping habits etc.
If you start to have severe symptoms however such as severe cramping, fever or nausea, see a doctor.
Below I pasted a link to a HER article which describes more reasons for late periods:

I hope that helps.
