Hello Anonymous,

Welcome to EmpowHER and thank you for coming to us with your concern.

Old blood with appear very dark in color, almost black. I am guessing that the two days of blackish vaginal discharge was remnants of your last period in September.

I suggest you schedule an appointment with your gynecologist. It will be the opportunity to determine the cause of recent changes in your menstrual cycle and discuss your plans to become pregnant.

Regards,
Maryann

Hi Anonymous,

The menstrual cycle is regulated by hormones. Fluctuations in hormone levels, particularly estrogen, cause irregular menstrual cycles in women who are in perimenopause.

You want to find out if you have a hormonal imbalance that caused you to have two periods in one month. It would be a good idea to have a physical exam with a gynecologist since you are trying to conceive.

Regards,
Maryann
