so i just had my son 5 motnhs ago and for 3 months after i had him i was on the nuva ring.. last month i ran out and didn't get more.. but this month i had unprotected sex about 3 times before my period was due. i usually get it around the 20th but i got it on the 18th it was only spotting light pink and then it became dark brown discharge for 5 days. sometimes when i wiped i saw red blood though, a wee bit not much. i took a "5day before your missed period test" when i woke up and it was negative. whats going on???

Chanet,

You're so welcome. So glad everything seems normal now. I know that's a big relief! Just interested, did you like the Nuva Ring? We have had a few questions lately from women who have stopped using it and I'm wondering what people think of it.

Chanet,

Thank you for your question, and welcome to EmpowHer!

It's hard to know exactly what's going on for sure, but most likely your body is just reacting to going off the Nuva-Ring birth control when you ran out last month. Whenever we disrupt our hormones, either by going on birth control or by going off, it can take us a month or two to get adjusted.

Do you plan to try another form of birth control? I am assuming you aren't trying to get pregnant again, since you were using the Nuva-Ring.
