pitting of both middle finger nails

Hi! I've noticed tiny little round indentations in the nails on both of my middle fingers. It appears to be resolving as they are visible on new growth but I'm curious what caused it. I am on medication for low thyroid and that had to be adjusted a few months ago. Any Ideas? Thank you!

Fingernails take a lot of abuse...and the round indentations you see can be caused by small "injuries", since they are occurring on only the two fingers and is resolving itself.

The Mayo Clinic has a great slideshow that shows some medical conditions related to our fingernails :http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/nails/WO00055.
