i've been diagnosed with pituitary microadenoma and been taking parlodel for the past 5 years. yet, my prolactin level is not improving, it's way beyond normal level. latest result was 269. since my oral medication is not responsive, is surgery an option? and will i be normal again?

Mine was last at 3000 but has come back down to normal at 260.
I wouldn't worry about yours at that level.

Hi Anonymous,

Thank you for your question. Unfortunately, we can only provide you information on this site. The information I found for you indicates that you must get a specialists opinion regarding your options as every case is different. John Hopkins is a leader in pituitary issues and here is the link for additional information http://www.hopkinsmedicine.org/neurology_neurosurgery/specialty_areas/pituitary_center/conditions/hyperprolactinemia.html.

I hope this helps. If you cannot find answers from your treating physician, perhaps a second opinion would be beneficial. Can you keep us posted?
