Long story: Condom broke during sex about 2 1/2 weeks ago. I took my bc pill right after. Then I forgot my pills at my boyfriends place. I was 2 days behind and doubled up the next two days once I got them back. I was still worried, and my doctor prescribed Plan B, even tho it was the 4th day since the incident (I read it can work up to 5 days after). Anyway, It's been 2 weeks and I'v had some spotting and cramping but my period isnt due for another 2 months because of the bc pill I'm on. I am on Seasonique and get my period every 3 months. I'm super paranoid and worried now. I haven't missed a bc pill since but the internet has me freaking out. I also got a test but the results were invalid so I'm trying again in a couple days. Is it possible I am pregnant?

My doctor didn't seem worried. I think she prescribed it because I have anxiety and she knew I would obsess about it. She said I should be fine but to take Plan B if I was worried.

Hello Anonymous,

Welcome to EmpowHER. Thank you for reaching out to our community for help.

To my knowledge, Plan B is effective in preventing pregnancy if taken within 72 hours or three days of contraceptive failure. I do not want to contradict your doctor's prescribing of the pill.

i am going to guess that the spotting was caused by Plan B. But, I am not a physician.

So, consider speaking with your physician rather than reading any more on the internet. It will only cause you more stress. Your gynecologist is your best resource.

Regards,
Maryann
