Hello Anon,

Thanks for reaching out to EmpowHer.

If you do not get any bleeding or a period, take a home pregnancy test. It's recommended to wait about 2 to 2 1/2 weeks from the time you had sex until you test when hCG levels are high enough to be detected in your urine using a home pregnancy test. It's the only way you will know for sure. I hope this helps.

Guide (reply to anni)

anni,
Brownish discharge and/or brown spotting are fairly common side effects of emergency contraception. It can mess up your cycle for a month or so as well. Try to relax and let your period run its course.

If you are still concerned after, you can always take a pregnancy test, if only to ease your mind.

I hope you feel better soon. :)

Best,
Helena
