Hi, i would like to know your opinion. I've had sex September 15. Pull out method. My next period was supposed to be September 21 or 23rd but i got it on the 29th. It was bright red, a bit lighter than usual, bleeding stops and comes back on 4th-7th days, until it was a mix of red and brown, the one i usually got when my period is about to end. October 6 i took hpt, negative. October 14, i took pregnancy serum test, negative. I went to my ob gyne to ask if i'm possibly pregnant because my period is always on time. She asked for transvaginal ultrasound or was that called as pelvic sonogram, a physiological cyst was found on my left ovary, endometrium thick. Prior to my september period, not sure if it was really a period, my last one was august 23-29. As per her count, it was six weeks so if i'm possibly pregnant, it would show up on the ultrasound. I read some sites in google saying that on 5-6wks gestation, normally you would have a cyst. Could it be possible that the cyst was mistaken, that it could be actually the one that will form to an embryo? Am I doing this all too early? I am so stressed and confused. Then she advised me to take dydrogesterone duphostan to bring my cycle back. But it was also used for preparation of uterus for pregnancy, right? How many weeks really am I if i'm really pregnant? Why is this all so confusing.

Hello Anonymous,
I am not a gynecologist, nor a radiologist to interpret the findings of your ultrasound, even if I had the scan in front of me.
The gestational sac (GS) is the first sign of early pregnancy on ultrasound and can be seen with a transvaginal ultrasound at approximately 3-5 weeks gestation when the mean sac diameter would approximately measure 2-3 mm in diameter.
A gestational sac, which houses the developing embryo, is implanted in the uterine lining. An ovary cyst is located on an ovary. No way of confusing the two.
I have no idea if you are pregnant or how many weeks gestation if you were. These are questions for your physician.
For you and the benefit of all our readers, Duphostan contains dydrogesterone which is a synthetic derivative of progesterone. It is used to treat a variety of conditions resulting from a lack of endogenous (naturally produced) progesterone, including menstrual disorders and endometriosis, and for hormone replacement therapy (HRT) and transgender hormone therapy.

Hello Anonymous87,
Welcome to the EmpowHER community. Thank you for coming to us with your question.
When was your last period? Was it on February 28?
If you have not had a period since then, and had unprotected intercourse on March 27 or any time since your last period ended, yes, you could be pregnant.
